CSA Academic Support

The Cranfield Students’ Association aims to support students to make their own informed choices by offering free, impartial advice and information on a range of matters. This is available for all current Cranfield University students, full-time or part-time from any of our sites. We operate independently from the University and specialise in supporting students through the process of academic appeals and complaints. We can also answer questions on a wide range of students on issues and if we can’t help you ourselves, we can direct you to someone who can!

The Students’ Association employ an external advisor who has extensive experience and knowledge when it comes to complex student appeals. We hope you will never need us in this capacity but if you do, be assured we will do all we can to guide and support you through the process. Should you have concerns or are thinking of appealing, applying for Extenuating Circumstances or submitting a complaint. Extenuating Circumstances, or ECs, are unexpected, serious and unavoidable situations that impact a student’s ability to complete their work or attend classes. The first step would be to look at the university grounds for appeal which can be found in your handbook or online. Appeals will only be considered under set circumstances outlined in your handbook and if they are within the set timeframe. Should your situation fit under the stipulated grounds and you have evidence to back your claim, then we can support you through the process of writing and submitting your appeal.

If you require further support or information on any of the above, please email csa@cranfield.ac.uk and you will be contacted by someone best suited to help your situation.

Please note that the advice we offer is a confidential service, and we cannot discuss student details with parents, guardians, or family members. If you have concerns about a student’s wellbeing, you should contact the university SWADS Team.
