CSA President: Education and Research

Location: Cranfield Campus

Employment type: Part-Time, 5 hours a week (ability to potentially increase to 15 hours from April 2026 depending on other Presidents’ terms)

Role overview: The President: Education and Research leads CSA's democratic representation on academic, educational and research student matters. The postholder works with Course Representatives, students, University colleagues and CSA staff to identify collective academic and research issues, represent the student voice in decision-making and follow issues through to an outcome. The Research-student focus of the role is retained while giving the postholder a defined leadership position within the wider academic representation structure. This is an elected student leadership role with three connected responsibilities: CSA Trustee, President and Theme Lead. The postholder is accountable to the collective student body, the CSA in terms of employment deliverables and, in their capacity as a Trustee, to the CSA Board of Trustees. The role therefore requires visible, active and evidence-based representation rather than attendance alone.

CSA President: Student Voice and Wellbeing

Role overview: The President: Student Voice and Wellbeing proactively seeks out student views and leads on student mental wellbeing activities. The postholder leads democratic representation on engagement, inclusion, belonging and well-being-related themes, ensuring that feedback is converted into evidence, representation and action. This role replaces a broad expectation to simply 'engage' with a clearer responsibility to find, represent and report back on student voice. This is an elected student leadership role with three connected responsibilities: CSA Trustee, President and Theme Lead. The postholder is accountable to the collective student body and, in their capacity as a Trustee, to the CSA Board of Trustees. The role therefore requires visible, active and evidence-based representation rather than attendance alone.

CSA President: Student Life and Community

Location: Cranfield Campus

Employment type: Part-Time, 5 hours a week

Role overview: The President: Student Life and Community represents students on the practical experience of living, studying and belonging at Cranfield. Rather than acting primarily as an events organiser, the postholder identifies gaps and opportunities in campus and community provision, gathers student evidence and works with CSA and University colleagues to improve the student-life experience. This is an elected student leadership role with three connected responsibilities: CSA Trustee, President and Theme Lead. The postholder is accountable to the collective student body and, in their capacity as a Trustee, to the CSA Board of Trustees. The role therefore requires visible, active and evidence-based representation rather than attendance alone.
